Project Brief :
IDF has been implementing a UNFPA grant project “Addressing Gender Based Vulnerabilities in Migration through Institutional Strengthening of Panchayats” to enhance the role of the Panchayats in Resilience Building of Women/Young Girls thus creating an enabling environment for women/girls reducing & addressing the various vulnerabilities with them as a result of distressed migration. With an objective of reducing unsafe migration and gender discrimination in district the project team planned some core activities. The project encompasses three strategies i.e. Empowering women & adolescent Girls, Involve and Strengthening Panchayati Raj Institution and Mobilizing resources. Capacity building of PRI representatives and Youth volunteers on various aspects of gender equity, safe migration, Panchayati Raj system & Structure, Gram Panchayat Development Planning (GPDP), and various Government Social Security Schemes. Generate Awareness on safe Migration through meetings with migrant workers at community level and developed tracking mechanism of migrant workers at the panchayat level by keeping Migrants Tracking Register. Making Gram Sabha and Mahila Sabha functional; ensuring women’s participation in these Sabhas and women can raise voice their issues, demands and opinion into the Mahila/Gram Sabha’s agenda. Making communities aware of the various government programs and schemes, especially those related to women and girls through organized ‘One-Stop-Camps’ at Panchayat Level. To achieve the project’s aim, IDF implement multiple activities; starting with the Scoping study which explore various dimensions related to the farm distress in Bihar and its impact on Fertility of women, her reproductive choices, inter/intra household gender relations & vulnerabilities, impact on adolescents and migration. One of the main focused on the project to developed 5 Model Panchayats where PRI representatives develop GPDP keeping in focus the issues of women and girls and create women friendly and safe community environment wherein women’s wellbeing, safety and rights are protected also encourage female participation and development of women status in the society.

Achievements:
32 Mukhiyas, 347 Ward members and 72 Youth Leaders and 250 Community members trained on gender-based vulnerability and Safe migration.206 PRI representative trained on Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) to create gender transformative Model Panchayat. 72 Youth Leaders trained on social security schemes & entitlements and PRI structure. 92 “One Stop Camps” organized and counseling and mobilized 5106 Young Girls/ boys and Dalit women to avail the government scheme and get benefited from the scheme by the Youth Leaders. 51916 people covered under child protection campaign.
