Project Brief :
IDF is working in collaboration with Nomi Network in an “Adolescent Girls Empowerment Programme” (AGEP) and implementing the project at Katra block of Muzaffarpur district with the objectives of enabling adolescent girls to make independent choices and take responsible, informed decisions with regard to their marriage, relationships and economic freedom. The multi-faceted intervention will result inreduced exploitation and violence against the Adolescent at the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking by creating social and economic pathways to sustainable empowerment.
IDF has initiated multipronged approach of girls’ empowerment encompassing improved socio emotional Life skills & awareness on their rights and entitlements,facilitating easy access to existing provisions and services for adolescent girls.Inducing vocational skills for self-reliance is an important component of this project. In the project, organisation directly work with 300 Adolescent Girls who have never attended school or drop-outs, at risk families’ children, Child labourers and those belonging to the poorest families.
Engagement & sensitization of different stakeholders at community level would be an important agenda to build awareness and solicit their support on adolescent concerns. School level sessions are conducted to facilitate knowledge on child rights, health issues and protection.Community outreach activities aim at mustering public opinion and proactive for girls’ empowerment. Different events, exposure workshops and field trips are organised for adolescent girls for their exposure to co-curricular activities and skills, best practices, existing mechanisms and framework for protection. Interface with block level Child Protection Committee is an important instrument which will facilitate cognizance of rights violation issues, referral of cases and curbing the incidences through enforcement.
