A Village Hero: Nitish - The Lifeline for village Livestock
A New Beginning
Nitish Kumar, an undergraduate Youth, from Rewar Village of Pakribarwan Block of Nawada lived with his family of ten, struggled with uncertaity and unemployement. Life seemed stagnant until IDF’s intervention introduced him to a new possibility – becoming a Paravet.
Curious but unsure, Nitish took a leap of faith. He trained for 5 days at DUVASU Mathura and 10 days at the project office, mastering Artificial insemination in goats, animal health care, vaccination and castration.
Struggles and breakthroughs
Returning home, he faced mockery and disbelief villagerslaughed at his ambition, unwilling to trust their livestock in his hands. Even at home, he lacked space to store his medical kits. But Nitish didn’t back down. He started small, offering low- cost treatments and emergency care. slowly, the jokes faded, replaced by trust and apperication.
Impact and Recognition
Today, 100+ families in his village and more than 100 outside rely on him. He has successfully treated 118 animals. His PPR vaccination drive protected countless livestock. From zero income, he now earns Rs. 4,000 – Rs. 5,000 per month, with a total income of Rs. 18,000 so far. More importantly, he is no longer just Nitish – he is “Doctor Sahab” to the villagers.
Looking Ahead
Nitish has big dream – expanding his services, upgrading his clinic, and reaching more villages. What started as an uncertain step has turned into a life-changing journey-not just for him, but for his entire community. When asked about his new role, he replied with confidence:
“IDF and Mankind Pharma have given me the opportunity to serve my own land, and I will leave no stone unturned in this mission.”
