Project Brief :

IDF with the support of the HDFC Bank is implementing a Holistic Rural Development Program (HRDP) in 15 selected village of sheikhpura district and has made a positive contribution to the development of the target community. The Organisation enable community to shift from a vicious cycle of poverty to an upright cycle of growth by ensuring sustainable means of livelihood, adequate access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities in community as well as schools with effective delivery of quality education in a conducive learning environment.

  • Skill Development: Training and Exposure visit of farmers on improved package of practices. 94 farmers participated in the training. Participants learned essential techniques such as land preparation, proper spacing for plantation, manuring, irrigation methods, pruning, and pest control in orchad development.
  • Running of skilling center for tailoring and apparel making for women and adolescents: A center was set up in Project area to promote the skill training for womwn and adolescent girls to learn tailoring skills, allowing them to work from home. 214 adolescent girls and women have been empowered through skill training programs, equipping them with valuable skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
  • Micro-Enterprise for mushroom cultivation with SHG Women: 12 members of Ekta Self Help Group in Basant village of Chakandra panchayat in Chewra block. The whole set up measures 800 Square Feet having multi- layer beds (09) for growing button mushroom.
  • Promotion of Orchards Development: 20 orchards spanning 6.63 acres have been developed under our project. Beneficiary’s selection has been completed after the meeting with members of farmers group & VDC. Farmland has been prepared for planting fruit plants and Mango of maldah variety.
  • Promotion of Organic Agriculture by promotion of vermicompost production through construction of vermin pit: In order to mobilize farmers to minimize the uses of chemical fertilizers, make them aware about the benefits of organic fertilizers. 2 vermi compost units (01unit = 02 pits) were constructed in all 15 villages. Total 120 vermipits were constructed and production started across intervention villages.
  • Veterinary Camp and Capacity building of Livestock Farmers: Veterinary services like De- worming, treatment for livestock mainly from tick infection & garget, fodder management, infertility management, and pregnancy diagnosis for cattle were rendered by expert veterinary doctor. Total 1594 farmers and 4473 livestock treated in project area.
  • Promotion of Tool bank: with a purpose to ensure reduction in time as well as input cost in agriculture through availability of small farm equipment’s at village level. The toll Banks have been established in 7 villages of the project in which 140 farmers get benefitted.
  • Beekeeping with Women SHG: Beekeeping is being promoted as a group enterprise with 2 SHGs in two villages kemra & Maheshpur of Chewara block. Women farmers were given training on technical aspects of beekeeping. Direct beneficiaries is 17. These women farmers were introduced to the process of honey extraction, making bee wax, royal jelly and safe storage of honey.
  • Poultry Farming with SHG Group: Built up area of this farm is 1000 square feet. Chicks utensils, feed materials etc are procured & handover to the Laxmi SHG. Commercial poultry farming business ensures high return of investment in the short period of time.
  • Setting up shed net house for raising nursery plants: Shed net house effectively protects plants and increase the yield during summer season when the sunrays are vertical. 5 unit of shed net houses were constructed.
  • Bio- Floc Fish Farming: Farmers in kushokhar village have embraced bio- floc fish farming, 10 farmers initiated this method after a concept seeding meeting. Tanks and necessary equipment were provided for the four 20k liter capacity tanks.
  • Nutrition Garden with Adolescent girls for improved nutrition and food security: Kitchen garden provides regular and convenient supply of fresh, healthy & organic vegetables for whole family which is rich in nutrition content. It was done with 300 families across all project villages. Seeds okra, pumpkin, red spinach, spinach, cucumber and bottle gourd were provided for sowing in two season. It was done with 300 families across all project villages.
  • Renovation & Beautification of aaganwadi centers with TLM & Sports material: Renevovation and beautification efforts transformed 8 Anganwadi centers now boast improved amenities, including teaching aids, informative paintings, seating arrangements, sports materials, and drinking water filters. 280 children get impacted.
  • Installation of Smart Class: The smart classes are modernized method of education in Indian education scenario which provides quality education to students by helping them in better concept formation, concept elaboration, improvement in reading skills and academic achievement. Smart classes have been set up in 11 schools which benefitted 3467 students.
  • Formation of Community- Based Institution: Self Help Group (SHG) exclusively for women were formed with systems for record keeping and saving. Village Development Committee (VDCs) comprising representatives from various community groups were established. About 8,190 SHG formed/trained and revived.
  • Distribution of Solar Lamp: Three hundred adolescent girls got solar lamps under the activity name “Solar lamps for School going Adolescent Girls”. It helps adolescent girls to continue their study even in the event of power cuts. 750 girls received the solar lamps.
  • Installation of solar street lights: One hundred and fifty solar street lights have been installed, benefiting 600 families by providing illumination and enhancing safety in the community, especially during the night. This sustainable energy solution contributes to a safer and more vibrant living environment in 15 villages of the project area.
  • Creating smart schools: The objective was to enhance children’s development by improving school infrastructure across 11 schools. Renovation work, including repairs, plastering, flooring, plumbing, and painting, was completed in classrooms and premises.
  • Natural Resource Management (NRM): We’ve implemented 12 group Irrigation systems covering 240 acres of land. MoU were signed with farmer groups, forming operation and maintenance committees to oversee the 10 Group Irrigation systems.
  • Individual support to women for livelihood protecting and income generation: 50 women from all 15 villages were supported to start and set up their own business.
  • Conducting health camps at village level: In 2021-2022 15 health camp was created and 1041 villagers get benefitted. In 2023, 878 and in 2024, 775 villagers benefitted.
  • Individual support to families for IHL: 79 families supported for IHL in 15 villages of Sheikhpura under the HRDP project.
